Fake German heiress Anna Sorokin, famously known as Anna Delvey, has been reportedly deported to Germany last night.
A source revealed that Anna was not happy about the news as she wanted to remain in the US. She had also filed an appeal to remain in the United States, which was denied as per a claim by a German newspaper. Anna’s plea was to be heard on April 19, which apparently will not happen now.
Who is Anna?
Anna Sorokin moved to Germany, where her family still lives when she was 15. However, a few years later, at 19, she struck out on her own to pursue a fashion degree in Paris. By 2014 she had moved to New York, often living out of expensive hotels — and skipping out on the bill, according to evidence presented at her trial.
By her mid-20s, she was moving in Manhattan’s elite social circles. She once revealed in an interview after being caught that she never actually told anyone she was a German heiress, that’s what many people believed her to be.
She scammed the American elites by posing as a rich heiress who was raising funds to launch a social club in Manhattan. She tricked her friends and lived a luxurious life in hotels without paying anything.
Anna was ultimately convicted of fraud in 2019 and sentenced to 12 years in prison. However, she was released on good behaviour, after spending four years in jail.
