ISLAMABAD: The interior ministry has notified troops’ deployment outside the polling stations during the upcoming by-elections in different constituencies of Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan.
On the request of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), the interior ministry released a notification regarding the deployment of troops outside the polling stations.
According to the notification, Rangers personnel will be deployed in PS-88 and PS-43 outside the polling stations from February 15 to 17. The polling will be organized in the constituencies of Sindh’s Malir and Sanghar on February 16.
Frontier Corps (FC) personnel will be deployed from February 15 to 17 in Balochistan’s PB-20. In Punjab’s NA-75, Rangers officials will perform security duties outside the polling stations, whereas, the paramilitary troops will be deployed from February 18 to 20 in PP-51.
Earlier, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued the schedule for by-elections on vacant seats of Sindh Assembly constituencies. As per details, the ECP has announced the holding of by-elections in Sindh Assembly constituencies; PS-43 Sanghar and PS-88 Malir.
According to the ECP, polling for the PS-52-Umerkot by-election will be held on January 18, while by-election in PS-43 Sanghar and PS-88 Malir will be held on February 16.
Furthermore, the election commission of Pakistan has approved nomination papers of 28 candidates contesting by-election from the PS-88 Malir constituency.
