KARACHI: Patron Zubair Motiwala and President Suleman Chawla of SITE Association of Industry, have expressed reservations over the sudden postponement of hearing by NEPRA, called to discuss Fuel Adjustment Charges (FCA) by K-Electric.
In a press statement issued today (Tuesday), SITE leaders have said that if NEPRA grants permission to K-Electric without stakeholder consultation, the industrialists’ community will not accept the decision and protest against it.
SITE leaders said that a notice was issued on 11th June 2020 by NEPRA to concerned stakeholders stating that K-Electric has asked for permission to collect FCA for Jan to April 2020.
It was informed that online hearing will be held on 23rd June 2020. However, the stakeholders were later informed that the hearing has been postponed.
“Postponement of hearing at the eleventh hour without any prior intimation to stakeholders is against norms of ethics”, Zubair Motiwala added.
They expressed apprehensions that NEPRA might silently allow K-Electric to collect FCA from consumers as per past practice which is sheer injustice to the people of Karachi.
Motiwala and Chawla remarked that if NEPRA allows K-Electric to collect the FCA, SITE Association will fight the case at all forums on behalf of the people to bring this malpractice to an end for good.
