Indian politician Prajwal Revanna has reportedly fled to Germany amidst shocking allegations that he raped approximately 400 girls and recorded the acts.
The 33-year-old is the grandson of a former prime minister of India and is known to be an ally of the current Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It’s alleged that Revanna utilized over 2,800 videos of these assaults to coerce and blackmail his victims.
Law enforcement authorities are currently investigating these disturbing allegations. The accusations against Revanna first came to light when approximately 2,000 USB sticks containing videos of the purported attacks were discovered scattered on buses, trains, and park benches across Karnataka, where elections are taking place in 28 constituencies.
According to reports from local media, one of the alleged victims, a former councilor in Bangalore, has come forward stating that Revanna repeatedly raped her. Revanna was contesting for a seat in the city of Hassan before abruptly leaving India.
Critics have leveled accusations against Prime Minister Modi, suggesting that he failed to take appropriate action against Revanna despite being aware of the allegations. Rahul Gandhi, a prominent member of the opposition Indian National Congress, asserted that BJP officials were informed about the accusations before their public revelation. Speaking at a rally in Karnataka, Gandhi condemned the situation, labeling it not merely a sex scandal but a mass rape, and criticized the Prime Minister for supporting what he described as a mass rapist. He further accused BJP leaders of knowingly aligning with Revanna and fielding him in the elections despite the serious allegations against him.
