MULTAN: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has asserted that India was no more a secular country as it had now become a Ram Nagar, a Hindu state where the minorities were prohibited to practice their religions.
“India is heading towards a Hindutva state and it can no more present its so-called secular face to the world,” he said while talking to journalists in Multan today (Monday). Kashmiris in occupied Kashmir and minorities in India are not safe, he added.
The foreign minister regretted that India has not reciprocated to peace overtures of Prime Minister Imran Khan. “India has been violating the basic human rights of Kashmiri people over a long period of time,” he added.
“Pakistan is consistently appraising the world that Kashmir is a flashpoint and its immediate and permanent solution is a must for regional peace and stability,” the minister added.
He also reaffirmed Pakistan’s determination for peace and stability in the region. “The world community acknowledges the role played by Pakistan to facilitate the Afghan peace process,” FM Qureshi added.
Responding to a query regarding the new US administration and the Afghan peace process, he reiterated that Pakistan and the United States have the same policy on Afghanistan, as both countries want peace there.
FM Qureshi further said Pakistan believes that there is no military solution to the Afghanistan issue. “Pakistan in its meetings with different US delegations has always supported dialogue process for restoration of peace in Afghanistan,” he concluded.
