India released seven Pakistani fishermen.
The released fishermen were handed over to the Pakistani authorities through the Wagah border.
The Edhi Foundation will take them home tomorrow.
They are Gul Sher, Samar, Ghulam Mustafa, Rajan, Soganju, Abdullah and Allah Bachaya.
Earlier, twenty Indian fishermen arrested by Pakistan for entering into the country’s territorial waters were handed over to India through the Wagah border crossing.
The fishermen, kept in Karachi’s Landhi Jail, were released after completing their jail term.
A spokesperson of the Edhi Foundation, a non-profit Pakistani social welfare organisation, said that the fishermen were handed over to India’s Border Security Force (BSF) in the evening after meeting the legal formalities.
“The 20 fishermen who were released from the District Prison and Correctional Facility, Malir, on Sunday and brought to Wagah on Monday were handed over to the BSF in the evening after meeting the legal formalities,” Muhammad Younis, a spokesperson of the Edhi Foundation said.
They entered India on the basis of an ‘Emergency Travel Certificate’ issued by the Indian High Commission at Islamabad.
The moment the fishermen crossed over to India, they knelt and kissed the ground.
All were medically examined, including for COVID-19, said the officials in India.
