Earlier in the day, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chaudhry said that party chairman Imran Khan has directed party lawmakers to prepare for elections.
Fawad Chaudhry stated on Twitter that the former premier has instructed all party candidates to return to their constituencies and begin campaigning.
The former minister claimed that although PTI would not spend any more time, the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) will continue to boycott the polls.
“If PDM continues to run away from the elections as it is running now, then without wasting any more time, we will go for elections in Punjab and Pakhtunkhwa while National Assembly elections would be held later on”.

The former information minister added that Khan has advised all PTI candidates to go back to their constituencies and start preparing for elections. National Assembly elections would be held afterwards if the government does not call for general polls, but PTI would opt for polls in Punjab and KP as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, in an interview with a private channel on Saturday, the PTI chief Imran Khan shared his willingness to halt the dissolution of the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assemblies if the coalition government agrees to conduct elections by the end of March next year.
“If they are ready for elections by the end of March, then we won’t dissolve the assemblies. Otherwise, we want to conduct polls by dissolving the KP and Punjab assemblies.” Imran said.
