ISLAMABAD: The Chairman of Pakitan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Imran Khan has expressed deep sense of shock at the ‘brutal murder’ of popular TV anchorperson Arshad Sharif in Kenya.

Arshad Sharif, it may be added here, was shot in the head and killed by Kenyan police on Sunday in what has been described by Nairobi authorities as a ‘case of mistaken identity’.

Taking to Twitter, Imran Khan said he was shocked at the brutal murder of Arshad Sharif who paid the ultimate price for speaking the truth – his life. He said Arshad Sharif had to leave the country and be in hiding abroad but he continued to speak the truth on social media, exposing the powerful. Today the entire nation mourns his death.

Imran Khan demanded that a proper judicial investigation must be instituted to examine his own statements plus evidence that other sources have.

“We have descended into a state of brutality, unknown in civilised society, indulged in by the powerful against those who dare to criticise & expose wrongdoings,” he said, adding his prayers and condolences for the his grief stricken family.
