ISLAMABAD: President of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazal-ur-Rehman has convened a meeting of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) today.
According to the PDM spokesperson, the meeting will be held at Sharif’s family residence in Jait Umrah. PPP co-chairmen Asif Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto will join the meeting throughvideo link.
According to sources, a long march and other decisions are expected today. The meeting is also expected to decide whether to run in the Senate elections. There are reports that consultations will also be held on boycotting the Senate and by-elections. The timing of the resignations will also be discussed.
Yesterday, the PDM approved dates for demonstrations across the country under the second phase. A protest will be held in Bahawalpur on 3rd January under the auspices of PDM. Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Maryam Nawaz, and Yousuf Raza Gilani will lead the Bahawalpur protest.
There are reports that a demonstration will be held on 6th January in Bannu under the auspices of PDM. The Bannu demonstration will be led by PDM chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.

The PDM will hold demonstrations in Malakand on 11th January, Loralai on 13th January, and Tharparkar on 16th January. According to sources, demonstrations will be held in Sargodha on 23rd January, Sialkot on 30th January, and Faisalabad on 31st January.
Sources also said that the official announcement of new dates for the protests is expected after today’s meeting. A decision on whether to run in the Long March and Senate elections in January is also expected today. Consultations will also be held on boycotting the Senate and by-elections.
