ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Finance Ayesha Ghous Pasha has said that we are going to get the next installment of the loan while the IMF has lost its trust in Pakistan.
According to the details, during the briefing in the meeting of the relevant standing committee of the Senate, Ayesha Ghous Pasha said that every condition of the IMF is being accepted for the restoration of trust, while progress has been made in financing from friendly countries.
The meeting of the Standing Committee on Finance was presided over by Chairman Committee Saleem Mandviwalla. During the briefing, Pasha said that there will be quick progress for financing from friendly countries. “We have made reforms in the electricity and gas sector over the last 10 years,” she said.
The Minister of State for Finance said that the negotiations with the IMF are not going on like before. “The design of subsidy on petrol is incomplete which is being worked on. Several difficult decisions had to be made to revive the IMF program. We need support from friendly countries,” she added.
Pasha said that in difficult times, China supported her timely. “It is hoped that progress will come from Saudi Arabia very soon. The IMF is pushing for targeted subsidies for the poor. Will design the subsidy and inform the IMF, she said.
