The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has included opener Imam-ul-Haq in the national cricket team in a key move to replace Fakhar Zaman, who was injured during the first match of the ICC Champions Trophy.
According to details, the ICC Technical Committee has approved the decision after Fakhar Zaman’s injury, which forced his exit from the ICC Champions Trophy. The PCB has decided to send Imam-ul-Haq on the first available flight to Dubai so he can play as an opener in Pakistan’s next match.
In a recent statement, Fakhar Zaman said that representing Pakistan in a major event like the ICC Champions Trophy is truly an honor and a dream come true for every player. “I am proud to have the honor of representing Pakistan. Unfortunately, I am now out of the ICC Champions Trophy,” he said.
Earlier, Fakhar Zaman sustained an injury while fielding during Pakistan’s first match against New Zealand and had to leave the field twice due to knee pain. After receiving treatment, he returned to the field and continued fielding until the end of the innings.
Experts said that Fakhar Zaman would not be able to open for the national team. According to the initial decision announced by the Pakistan Cricket Board, Saud Shakeel and Babar Azam opened the innings. Yesterday, Fakhar Zaman could not open against New Zealand and had to wait for 20 minutes due to being off the field.
