ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) has launched an e-court system by allowing lawyers to use Skype video conference facilities for arguments.
A circular has been issued in this regard by the Additional Registrar Judicial on the direction of Chief Justice Islamabad High Court Justice Atharmanullah.
A circular issued by the IHC stated that no party can record the proceedings from any device. A separate file of e-court proceedings will be prepared and all the recordings will be preserved in the High Court.
The circular also stated that a separate list of e-court cases would be issued. It stated that in view of coronavirus, lawyers were facing difficulties in appearing in court for the hearing.
The circular added that e-courts have been set up to ensure social distance and facilitate lawyers. It has been clarified in the circular that lawyers can send an application to the Registrar’s Office to facilitate e-court in case of any misfortunate incident.
Copies of the circular issued by the Additional Registrar Judicial of the Islamabad High Court were sent to the Secretary to Chief Justice, Personal Secretaries of Judges, Registrar’s Office, and District Judges.
