IG Punjab Shoaib Dastgir replaced after dispute with CCPO Lahore

LAHORE: Inspector General of Punjab Police Shoaib Dastgir has been transferred.

Shoaib Dastgir was posted as IG Punjab on 26th November last year. Shoaib Dastgir could not complete ten months as IG Punjab. In Punjab, five IGs have changed in two years.

According to sources, Inspector General of Punjab Police Shoaib Dastgir was angry with the provincial government over the appointment of CCPO Lahore without consultation and the protesters had not gone to the office for three days.

Omar Sheikh was posted as CCPO Lahore against the wishes of IG Shoaib Dastgir, due to which he had not visited the office for three days. Sources also said that Lahore CCPO Omar Sheikh will continue in his post.

Sources said that Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar had summoned Shoaib Dastgir and listened to his concerns regarding the appointment of CCPO Lahore. After the IG Punjab’s meeting with Punjab Chief Minister Usman Bazdar, matters are still as they are.

According to sources, Usman Buzdar had refused to change the CCPO Lahore on which the IG Punjab had lost his mind and left the office. 

Earlier in a statement, Lahore CCPO Omar Sheikh said that IG Punjab is two years older than me, he knows me well and is my commander. How can I discipline my subordinates and disobey the orders of the IG himself? IG Punjab for 30 years while I have been in the police for 28 years.

Lahore CCPO Omar Sheikh further said that everyone says that I am asking for the location of SP. I ask for the location. If IG asks for my location, I will provide it. I am a professional office that is why I have been posted as CCPO Lahore. I have come to fix Lahore. If Lahore is fixed then its impression will spread all over Punjab.
