Malaika Arora’s father, Anil Mehta, tragically passed away on Wednesday morning, leaving the family in deep shock.
A post-mortem report revealed that his death was due to “multiple injuries.” The examination was conducted on Wednesday night around 8:00 PM, according to News18.
In an emotional statement shared on Instagram, Malaika expressed the family’s sorrow, saying, “We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our dear father, Anil Mehta. He was a gentle soul, a devoted grandfather, a loving husband, and our best friend. Our family is in deep shock by this loss, and we kindly request privacy from the media and well-wishers during this difficult time. We appreciate your understanding, support, and respect.”
NDTV reported on Thursday that the 65-year-old Mehta had called both of his daughters shortly before he allegedly jumped from the balcony of their sixth-floor residence in Bandra’s Ayesha Manor, stating, “I’m tired.” The police have reportedly confirmed that Mehta’s death was a suicide.
Joyce Polycarp, Arora’s mother, was in the house at the time of the incident and found him in critical condition outside their residence. He was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
