Hyundai Nishat Motors has hinted at the launch of a new model in Pakistan through a teaser posted on its official Instagram account. While the company hasn’t confirmed details, the teaser suggests it could be the Hyundai Tucson Hybrid with All Wheel Drive (AWD), possibly the fourth-generation model.
Although nothing has been officially announced, a company representative has confirmed that Hyundai plans to introduce both a long wheelbase version and an AWD variant of the Tucson in hybrid form. If launched, it would be the brand’s first hybrid SUV offering in the local market — a segment that’s slowly beginning to see more interest.
To get an idea of what the local version might offer, we looked at the specifications of the international fourth-generation Tucson Hybrid. However, it’s worth noting that the features and equipment in the Pakistani version may differ depending on local requirements and cost considerations.
Globally, the Tucson Hybrid comes with a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with a hybrid system. It produces 231 horsepower and 367 Nm of torque, delivered through a six-speed automatic transmission.
The standard international model comes with front-wheel drive, though Hyundai has confirmed an AWD version is being planned for Pakistan. Features such as smart regenerative braking, e-Comfort and e-Dynamic drive modes, torque vectoring, and enhanced stability controls are also part of the international package.
On the outside, the global Tucson Hybrid includes a bold grille with integrated daytime running lights, LED headlamps with static bending function, a panoramic sunroof, 19-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, and a power-operated tailgate.
Rain-sensing wipers and heated, electric folding mirrors are also included. The SUV is offered internationally in a range of colours including Phantom Black, Deep Sea, Amazon Gray, Cashmere White Cream, and Pine Green Matte.
The interior is designed to offer comfort and convenience, with features like leather seats, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a touchscreen infotainment system of the same size that supports Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Bluetooth.
Dual-zone automatic climate control, a wireless phone charger, power-adjustable front seats, and multiple USB ports are also part of the setup. Rear seats offer a 60:40 split with folding and reclining options, while ambient lighting and LED room lamps contribute to a more premium cabin feel.
When it comes to safety, the international version includes six airbags, electronic stability control, hill-start assist, downhill brake control, tyre pressure monitoring, and ISOFIX child seat anchors. Driver assistance features like blind-spot monitoring, lane keeping assist, smart cruise control, forward collision avoidance, and surround view monitoring further add to the package.
For now, all eyes are on Hyundai Nishat as buyers wait to see what features will make it to the local version. The launch of a hybrid AWD Tucson would mark a notable step for the brand in Pakistan’s evolving SUV market.
