The Chief Minister of Punjab has officially launched the CM Punjab Free Solar Panel Scheme in Lahore, aiming to distribute free solar panels to 100,000 households in the province.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz inaugurated the initiative during a ceremony. She emphasized that the scheme’s primary objective is to provide permanent relief from expensive electricity to the public.
Eligibility Criteria:
Households consuming up to 200 units per month will receive solar systems free of cost.
Consumers using 100 units per month will receive a 550-watt solar system, while those using 200 units will receive an 1100-watt system.
Application Process:
Consumers can register for the scheme by sending an SMS to 8800, providing their bill reference number and CNIC for verification.
A computerized draw will ensure transparency in the selection process.
Environmental and Economic Benefits:
Installing 100,000 solar systems will reduce carbon emissions by 57,000 tons.
The initiative is expected to ease the federal government’s subsidy burden.
Support System: A helpline has been set up to assist applicants and ensure smooth implementation of the scheme.
The program is a significant step towards promoting renewable energy, reducing reliance on traditional power sources, and ensuring affordable energy solutions for the people of Punjab.
