ISLAMABAD: People in Pakistan are reportedly facing problems in getting their new or renewed passports.
Sources reveal that the issuance of more than 0.4 million Pakistani passports is currently facing delays. This delay is attributed to a significant increase in passport applications, compounded by the use of outdated printing machines.
Furthermore, a shortage of staff has led to a backlog in processing passport applications, contributing to the overall delay in issuing passports.
Officials at the passport office have reported a daily influx of over 40,000 new applications, a considerable rise compared to the previous range of 20,000 to 25,000 applications.
