The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has announced the opening of applications for the Research Awards 2024, which recognizes outstanding achievements in the field of research. The awards will be presented in three categories: Best Researcher, Best Young Researcher (age limit: 40 years), and Best Publication. Researchers interested in participating are invited to submit their applications by December 17, 2024.
In related news, the HEC has also marked a significant achievement in the advancement of education in Pakistan with the establishment of 100 smart classrooms across the country. These classrooms launched in an online ceremony led by HEC Executive Director Dr. Zia Ul-Qayyum, represent a major technological step forward in the nation’s higher education system.
Chairman of HEC, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad, alongside Vice Chancellors and senior university officials, participated in the ceremony. He congratulated the HEC IT Division and universities for their efforts in completing the project, calling it a transformative milestone that will significantly enhance the digital learning experience and foster greater student engagement.
Dr. Zia Ul-Qayyum also expressed gratitude to the Governments of Pakistan and China, as well as project partners CRSC and Huawei, for their support in bringing these smart classrooms to life. Part of the HEC’s CPEC initiative, these classrooms are designed to support up to 4,000 simultaneous participants, expanding access to quality distance learning across the country and helping Pakistan align with global education standards.
