KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) announced on Wednesday that heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected to hit the suburbs of the city today, bringing much-needed relief from the ongoing heat wave for residents.
Despite this forecast, the Met Office stated that Karachi’s weather is likely to remain hot and humid over the next 24 hours, with maximum temperatures expected to range between 37°C and 39°C.
This rain prediction follows weather expert Jawad Memon’s statement a day earlier, indicating that thunderclouds could develop in Karachi’s northern, northeastern, and northwestern neighborhoods from today until July 18.
“Clouds may form in the afternoon due to moist winds blowing from the Arabian Sea,” the weather analyst explained.
He also forecasted light to moderate rain for areas including Gadap, the Superhighway, Malir, Surjani, and Gulshan-e-Maymar until Thursday.
Moreover, the PMD noted that the sea breeze in the metropolis has ceased, with light winds now coming from the northwest.
