As the intense heatwave grips Karachi, doctors have issued special health advisories for citizens suffering from skin rashes, allergies, prickly heat, itching, and fungal and bacterial infections.
Medical experts have advised residents to avoid unnecessary outdoor exposure, maintain hygiene, and stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water during this extreme weather.
Due to the rise in heat-related skin conditions caused by excessive sweating and humidity in the air, heatstroke wards have been set up in various hospitals across the city.
Special arrangements have also been made at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), Karachi’s largest medical facility, where a 22-bed isolation ward has been established in anticipation of heatstroke patients.
According to Dr. Irfan, the emergency in-charge at JPMC, the isolation ward is fully equipped with necessary medicines and facilities to treat patients effectively.
He also stated that dedicated medical staff have been assigned to the ward to ensure timely and efficient care for anyone affected by heat-related illnesses.
