RAWALPINDI: Serious health concerns have been raised over poor hygiene in the Rawalpindi Cantt area amid the prevailing situation in the country.
The cleanliness situation in the Rawalpindi Cantt area is very poor despite strong action being taken against the spread of the coronavirus in the twin cities and other parts of the province.
According to details, special care is being taken to clean up the country against the outbreak of the coronavirus. In this regard, a lockdown has been placed by the provincial governments across the country, but the cleanliness situation in Rawalpindi’s Cantt is very alarming.
Several areas of the Cantt area especially urban areas are not being considered to be cleaned up as per the expectations, causing immense problems for residents in the area.
The waste of the factory quarters located at Mughalabad area is being directly dumped into the drains that have caused sewage problems in the area making the residents suffer from severe problems.
Similarly, in other areas of Rawalpindi like the streets of the Tench Bhata and Peoples Colony are not being cleaned and their drains are not being considered for cleaning at all.
During the rainy season, these lanes get flooded with water. People living in these areas have demanded the Cantt Board officials to pay close attention to the issue and to clean the drains so the pollution can be eliminated.
