Indian media has claimed that the Indian Navy has opened a naval front against Pakistan for the first time since 1971 and launched missile attacks on Karachi Port; however, this is a false claim and has no basis in reality.
According to these claims, the Indian Navy targeted important naval bases in Pakistan, causing heavy destruction and spreading panic in the coastal areas of Pakistan.
All these claims have come at a time when tensions between India and Pakistan have increased.
Indian media says that explosions have been heard near Karachi, but this claim could not be confirmed by any impartial source, nor has there been any response from the Pakistani government or army to confirm these attacks.
It is worth mentioning that during the 1971 war, the Indian Navy launched two major naval attacks on Karachi, which were named “Operation Trident” and “Operation Python”.
According to the Indian narrative, in these attacks on December 4, 1971, Indian missile boats and anti-submarine corvettes destroyed Pakistani ships and targeted oil storage facilities in Karachi. This day is now celebrated as Indian Navy Day.
In addition, on December 8, 1971, the Indian Navy carried out a further attack under “Operation Python” in which several merchant ships were targeted and Pakistani fuel supplies were severely damaged.
Now in 2025, India has based the recent attack on these old incidents, according to which the Western Fleet of the Indian Navy, which is active from Mumbai, is fully prepared and mobilized.
