Indian Punjabi film Sardaar Ji 3, featuring Pakistani actress Hania Aamir alongside Indian stars Diljit Dosanjh and Neeru Bajwa, has been cleared by Pakistan’s Central Board of Film Censors for public screening across the country.
The film is set to hit cinemas nationwide today (June 27).
Sardaar Ji 3 stirred controversy due to Hania Aamir’s prominent role, especially in light of the recent three-day standoff between India and Pakistan, after which India imposed a ban on Pakistani artists. Her inclusion in the cast had sparked debate and speculation.
Despite being banned in India—reportedly because of the involvement of Pakistani talent—the film has sparked widespread interest and discussion on both sides of the border.
The censor board, in its official notification, stated that Sardaar Ji 3 has been “passed for unrestricted public exhibition within the territories of Pakistan” under the Motion Pictures Ordinance of 1979.
The cast also includes renowned Pakistani comedian Nasir Chinyoti and several popular Punjabi actors. Hania Aamir, who enjoys a massive fan following in Pakistan, plays a prominent role in the film.
Her fans have taken to social media to share their excitement. One fan wrote, “Hania Aamir alone is enough for Indians,” while another commented, “Pakistan deprived India of this movie.”
