LAHORE: A district court on Saturday remanded the founder of Bareeze group and a highly respected corporate giant Hamid Zaman into the custody of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for two days.
The FIA arrested him from his office on Waris road in Lahore yesterday and produced in district court to get physical remand.
During the course of the court’s proceedings, the FIA demanded 14 days of physical remand and argued that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), in its inquiry into prohibited funding case, had traced some PTI’s bank accounts which were being operated from the USA, and in which Rs60 million had been deposited, and the same was used for political purpose.
The Defense Council opposed the remand, saying that the FIA had not issued a summons to his client. He also argued that the FIA had no authority to even conduct an inquiry into prohibited funding case, and all the charges against his client were baseless.
After hearing the arguments, the court granted two days of physical remand of Hamid Zaman and ordered to produce him on Monday.
