ISLAMABAD: Adviser to PM on Finance Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh is scheduled to chair an Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) meeting in the federal capital today.
According to details, a nine-point agenda will be discussed during the meeting. During the meeting, the cabinet will consider a summary of the revised concessions for the Special Economic Zones while reviewing the implementation of the Prime Minister’s Economic Relief Package.
A summary of petroleum levy on Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is also on the agenda of the meeting, while approval of supplementary grants for the Ministry of Housing and Works is also expected.
Hafeez Shaikh earlier on Tuesday chaired a meeting with Dr. Ikram-ul-Haq through a video link to discuss proposals for improving the country’s tax structure through data gathering and reconciliation mechanisms.
Chairman FBR, secretary finance, and ex-secretary finance Dr. Waqar Massoud Khan were also present during the meeting at the Finance Division. The adviser appreciated the work done by Dr. Ikramul- Haq for gathering data from selected markets and different chambers of commerce and Industry.
