ISLAMABAD: Two unknown armed miscreants barged into the house of anchorperson and host Shiffa Yousafzai last evening, thrashing the servant and enquiring about her family.

PTI Sindh leader Ali Zaidi took to Twitter, saying that Shiffa called her informing him that two armed men just broke in her house, beat up her servants, asked about the family, searched the house and left! “This is a very alarming situation,” he said.

Responding to media reports, Islamabad police said Shiffa Yousafzai’s residence has been provided with appropriate security till further orders, and promised speedy investigation.

Later on, local journalist reported that a case into the incident was also registered in Kohsar police station.

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb strongly condemned the armed men’s attempt to enter into anchorperson Shiffa Yousafzai’s house and alleged torture of domestic workers.
The minister telephoned Shiffa Yousafzai and informed her that the police were investigating the incident and have been directed to arrest the culprits as soon as possible.
The minister expressed solidarity with Shiffa Yousafzai and her family.
Shiffa Yosafzai told the minister that she was not present at home at the time of the incident.
“Suspects assaulted, threatened domestic workers and escaped,” Shiffa Yousafzai told the information minister. The minister said that such incidents would be prevented with collective efforts۔
Meanwhile, newsmen and members of civil society as well as politicians took to Twitter and registered their strong condemnation into the incident.
