ISLAMABAD: Shafqat Mahmood, Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training, on Tuesday informed that the government will take harsh actions against those private schools who breached the instructions of supreme court regarding the increase in fees.
The Minister was addressing a Press Conference at the 4th Inter-Provincial Ministers Conference (IPMC) Forum, he said it was the responsibility of federal and provincial governments to guarantee that the decision of Apex Court on private schools charges is implemented.
He also maintained that the Orders by the top court about the fee hike by private sector educational institutions would be executed in true manner.
As per court decision, he said, “the fees structure of 2017 can be increased only five percent by the next two years”.
“It was the responsibility of government to ensure the implementation of court orders regarding the increase of fees by private sector schools and colleges”, Shafqat said.
He said that the Higher Education Commission has signed an agreement worth of Rs 400 million Dollar with the World Bank.
To a question, he said that due to financial issues, the government was not able to provide enough funds to HEC in the budget. “We are striving to provide more funds to the higher education commission” he ensured.
