KARACHI: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that the federal government would discuss the south Punjab belt with all parties.
While talking in a private programme, Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that the people of South Punjab should pressurize their leadership with the demand of a separate province.
According to Qureshi, people should show more force on this matter.
While commenting on the opposition party, he said that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-N (PMLN) have conducted campaigns for separate provinces in the past.
He also said that the province, if and when made will be fully empowered.
earlier on Wednesday, Qureshi said the government decided to table a bill in the National Assembly for creating South Punjab province. In this regard was taken at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan, he added.
The foreign minister expressed hope that other political parties will support the bill keeping in view their stance for giving rights to the people of southern Punjab. He said two-thirds majority will be required for the amendment. He said that a political consensus will be built and hoped that other parties would support them.
