The federal government is mulling to introduce electronic toll plazas across major highways as part of National Highway Authority’s (NHA) ambitious plans to modernize and expand key motorways.
The NHA is considering the installation of electronic toll plazas as a step toward a more streamlined and effective road network. With this cutting-edge system, automated toll collecting systems that use electronic tags will take the place of conventional toll booths.
Electronic toll plazas promise to drastically cut down on toll point wait times by doing away with manual procedures and cash transactions, making travel easier and quicker.
Abdul Aleem Khan, the Federal Minister for Communications, suggested replacing the current toll booths with automated ones that will allow cars go through without stopping.
The new system claims to provide a smoother, faster travel experience by drastically reducing wait times at toll points through the use of electronic tags for toll collection.
Moreover, the federal minister directed the NHA to take strict, impartial action against corrupt officers and staff.
The minister also emphasized the need to accelerate the progress of ongoing NHA projects across all four provinces, pushing for the swift completion of these critical infrastructure initiatives.
