ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan has said that the government had to borrow an additional Rs 3,000 billion to pay interest.
According to details, Ali Mohammad Khan while talking in a private TV program said that the common man is definitely upset due to inflation but the current government is not the only one responsible for inflation. We have taken 3000 billion loans which will pay interest.
Blaming the former rulers for the rise in prices, Ali Mohammad Khan said that Ishaq Dar had artificially supported the rupee against the dollar for four years, while Muftah Ismail had devalued the dollar. “We have left the rupee at its original value,” he maintained.
Commenting on the suspension of funding to the Election Commission, Ali Mohammad Khan said that the Commission is an independent body and the government releases funds to it under the Constitution. The federal cabinet has not taken any decision to stop the funding of the Election Commission, Ali added.
Earlier, Attorney General of Pakistan Khalid Javed Khan while commenting on the funding and the Election Commission said that the funding of the ECP is the legal responsibility of the government, which is the duty of the government.
Recently, the PTI announced by the federal government that no funding would be provided if the Election Commission did not use the electronic voting machine. The attorney general said funding could not be linked to any particular procedure.
