Former Chief Justice Gilgit-Baltistan affidavit attorney affirming the oath commissioner and notary public Charles Guthrie has said that he is ready to go to Pakistan to verify the affidavit of Justice (retd) Rana Shamim and appear before the courts.
In an exclusive interview with The News, Charles Guthrie said that he was ready to appear in the courts to confirm that Rana Shamim was conscious at the time of signing the affidavit.
Charles Guthrie, a notary public in London, said the affidavit published in the newspapers was valid, which he stamped and was signed by Justice Rana Shamim. The affidavit claimed that former Chief Justice Saqib Nisar had put pressure on the lower judiciary.
Rana Shamim’s affidavit claimed that former Chief Justice Saqib Nisar pressured a senior Islamabad High Court judge to block the release on bail of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz before the 2018 general elections.
Charles Guthrie said Justice Rana Shamim was an educated and intelligent man who clearly knew what he had confirmed and what he had said in the affidavit. The person preparing the document also showed his passport and ID card.
