KARACHI: Gold prices on Thursday surged in Pakistan in line with the increase in the international rate.
The price of the yellow metal increased by Rs2,750 during the day to Rs228,150 per tola.
The All Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association (APGJSA) published rates that showed an increase of Rs2,358 on the 10-gram gold’s sale price of Rs195,602.
In Pakistan, the price of a tola of gold climbed by Rs. 1,500 on Wednesday.
With a premium of $20, the international rate of gold on Thursday was set at $2,174 per ounce after an increase of $26 in the international market, APGJSA said.
Meanwhile, silver rates remain unchanged per tola to settle at Rs2,600.
Moreover, after four consecutive losses, the Pakistani rupee recorded a marginal improvement against the US dollar, appreciating 0.02% in the inter-bank market on Wednesday.
At close, the local unit settled at 279.29, a gain of Re0.06, against the greenback, as per the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
On Wednesday, the rupee registered a marginal decline to settle at 279.35 against the US dollar, according to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
