WASHINGTON: The number of coronavirus infection cases across the world has surged to 15,094,610 and the pandemic has so far claimed over 619,520 lives.
According to the latest data, 9,110,972 patients have recovered from the pandemic so far. The United States tops with nearly 4,028,569 cases and more than 144,953 deaths followed by Brazil with over 2,166,532 cases and more than 81,597 deaths.
India has reported 1,194,085 cases while 28,770 deaths due to the coronavirus. The country has the third-highest number of recorded infections in the world.
Over 783,328 people have infected while 12,580 people died of the virus in Russia. South Africa has become one of the top five worst-hit countries in the coronavirus pandemic as the country reported over 381,798 infections. The country reported 5,368 deaths.
Peru has reported 362,087 cases while 13,579 deaths. Mexico has reported 40,400 deaths and 356,255 cases.
In Chile, nearly 334,683 cases were confirmed, including more than 8,677 deaths. Spain has recorded 45,422 fatalities and 313,274 infections.
