ISLAMABAD: President Dr. Arif Alvi has approved holding general elections for the Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly.
The general elections for the Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly will be held on 15th November. The president approved the summary sent by Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Earlier, general elections in Gilgit-Baltistan were scheduled for 18th August but were postponed. On 30th March, the Supreme Court of Pakistan allowed the general elections in Gilgit-Baltistan.
The Supreme Court, while hearing the petition seeking the establishment of caretaker elections and general elections in Gilgit-Baltistan, gave a brief verdict allowing amendment in the Gilgit-Baltistan Order 2018.
