ISLAMABAD: The persisting gas crisis, due to the ongoing winter season, has further aggravated and added hardships to the residents of several localities of Islamabad.
According to details, Sui Northern Gas Company, despite receiving billions of rupees in bills and taxes, failed to provide the required gas pressure of domestic consumers.
Prime Minister Imran Khan, on December 28, took notice of the gas crisis, but nothing happened yet. Consumers, as per routine, are facing an absence of natural gas. Meanwhile, marketing companies are taking advantage of the present situation and continuously increasing prices of LPG.
As the temperature increases, the gas supplying company has deliberately reduced gas pressure on the outskirts of Islamabad. The consumers of Tarlai, Tramri, Alipur, Sohan, Golra, Bari Imam, Barakahu, and Margalla Town are facing acute shortage of gas.
Citizens complained about having to buy expensive LPG gas and being forced to use compressors because of low gas pressure. “Due to lack of gas, houses, flats, hospitals, and mosques have become cold storages,” they added.
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has already clarified that LPG marketing companies increased its rates by own without government permission. The local administration should take strict action against LPG dealers, it added.
