ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Friday submitted a report to the Supreme Court regarding the provision of funds for elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
In the report the electoral body has said that federal government had not provided funds for the elections so far.
The apex court had ordered the government to provide Rs 21 billion to the ECP for conducting elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by April 27.
It should be mentioned that National Assembly on Thursday once again rejected bill to provide funds for Punjab election as per the Supreme Court order.
The top court of the country has also order to ECP to hold general elections of Punjab Assembly on May 12, however, the government is of the view that the general elections must be held across the country as a same date.
To make a political recompilation on the issue, the government and opposition party PTI has begun talks.
