Eight people lost their lives in two separate shooting incidents in Balochistan’s Kalat and Nushki districts.
In the first attack, gunmen opened fire in Mangochar town, roughly 40 kilometers from Kalat, at 2:30 PM on Saturday, killing four laborers from Sadiqabad district in Punjab, according to Mangochar Assistant Commissioner Ali Gul Imrani.
Such attacks on laborers from other regions of Pakistan have become more frequent in Balochistan, with militants accusing them of exploiting local resources.
The second incident occurred the same day in the Ghareebabad area of Nushki district, where unidentified assailants on a motorcycle ambushed a police vehicle, resulting in the deaths of four police officers.
The officers were from Nushki district, and their bodies were taken to the District Headquarters Hospital.
While no group has claimed responsibility for these attacks, suspicion is likely to fall on the banned separatist organization, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA). The group has a history of targeting laborers from Punjab and law enforcement personnel in its demand for greater control over Balochistan’s natural resources.
