ISLAMABAD: Four Afghan nationals have been arrested for alleged involvement in robberies and street crime in the federal capital.
A police spokesman said a police team headed by SHO Shahzad Town Police Station Subinspector Tipu Sultan conducted an operation and nabbed four Afghan nationals involved in criminal activities.
They have been identified as Roohullah, Farhad, Shahid and Irshad Khan and are Afghan nationals. Police also recovered four mobile phones, artificial jewellry, and four pistols along with ammunition from their possession.
During preliminary investigation, the suspects confessed to their involvement in several criminal and snatching incidents in the various area of the twin cities. Cases have been registered against them and further investigation is underway.
Inspector General Police (IGP) Islamabad Muhammad Amir Zulfiqar Khan had ordered a crackdown against criminals especially involved in street crime. DIG Operations Waqaruddin Syed directed all zonal officers to accelerate efforts to curb crime in the city as no laxity would be tolerated.
The police officers have appreciated the overall performance of Tarnol Police and announced commendation certificates along with cash rewards for policemen who arrested these gangsters.
Meanwhile, officials of Karachi Company police station reunited an eight-year-old boy who went missing with his family. Wazir Khan lodged a report that his minor son Sohail had been missing from the area following which SP Saddar Sarfraz Virk constituted a special team to trace the missing child.
A team headed by DSP Abid Ikram including SHO of Karachi Company police station Subinspector Saleem Raza and others started efforts to trace the boy and finally succeeded. Police reunited the boy with his family and his parents thanked Islamabad police team for their extraordinary efforts.
