DUBAI: Portuguese renowned footballer Cristiano Ronaldo has been named ‘Player of the Century’ at Globe Soccer Awards.
A prestigious event was held in Dubai which was attended by a number of sports and showbiz personalities. Cristiano Ronaldo was named ‘Player of the Century’ and Real Madrid have been named as the ‘Club of the Century’, Los Blancos winning the Champions League on five occasions between 2001 and 2020.
After receiving the award, the 35-year-old player said that it is a pleasure for him to win this title. “It is not easy to become number one after playing for so many years. I am really proud but all this is not possible without a team, good coaches and clubs, he maintained.

Speaking at a ceremony in Dubai, Ronaldo said, “I’ve played professional football for 20 years in a row and I don’t know if I have a record that I don’t have. He added, “It would not have been possible without my teammates and this award has encouraged me to go further.”

Earlier, the Portuguese footballer was also the Golden Foot award at the weekend to mark his outstanding achievements and performances in international football over the course of 2020.
