NEW YORK: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, presently on a trip to ease tensions between the United States and Iran, arrives in New York on Wednesday to interact with UN leaders before heading to Washington.
U.N. spokesman Stéphane Dujarric said at his midday briefing on Tuesday that the meeting was “asked by the Pakistan Embassy” and that the “Secretary-General is always pleased to meet with foreign dignitaries.”

Authorities in New York told reporters that during his day-long stay, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi would communicate with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and the President of the UN General Assembly, Tijjani Muhammad-Bande.
On Wednesday night, Qureshi leaves for Washington where US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is expected to achieve him as part of his attempts to reduce the conflict between Iran and the United States.
