Five terrorists, including a high-value target, were gunned down and two others were arrested in three separate intelligence-based operations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), ISPR said on Saturday.
An intelligence-based operation was conducted by the security forces in Bajaur District, on the reported presence of Khwarij. During the conduct of the operation, own troops effectively engaged the Khwarij location and after an intense fire exchange, three Khwarij, including high-value target Kharji Fareed Ullah, were sent to hell, ISPR added.
Another intelligence-based operation was conducted in the general area of Dossali in North Waziristan District. In the ensuing fire exchange, two Khwarij were effectively neutralised by the security forces.
In the third encounter that took place in Mohmand District, the security forces successfully busted a Kharji hideout and apprehended two Khwarij, including high-value target Kharji Lal Ameer alias Ibrahim.
Weapons, ammunition, and explosives were also recovered from these khwarij, who remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities.
Sanitization operations were conducted to eliminate any other Kharji found in the area, as the security forces of Pakistan are determined to wipe out the menace of terrorism from the country, the ISPR statement said.
President Asif Ali Zardari commended the security forces for their successful operations, praising their bravery in neutralizing the militants. “Security forces will continue operations until complete eradication of terrorist elements,” he said in a statement issued by the Presidency.
The president termed the elimination of the group’s ringleader a significant achievement and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to national security. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also lauded the efforts of the forces.
