KARACHI: Five dacoits were killed after a police shootout during a robbery attempt at a house in North Karachi.
The incident occurred in Sector 11-B of North Karachi when the criminals enter a house at 4 AM and held the inhabitants hostage. After receiving information, police reached the spot and surrounded the house.
In the ensuing shootout, five dacoits were killed while two accomplices managed to escape. Sir Syed police station officials said the suspects entered the house to loot precious items. They said weapons and other looted items were recovered from the possession of the killed criminals.
According to further details, all the family members were sleeping when the criminals entered the house. The robbers entered the house by jumping over the wall and breaking the glass of the room’s window.
A resident told police that the suspect beat up his brother and held the family hostage. The criminals first took out the items from the cupboards in the room on the ground floor. Then they entered the first floor and searched all the rooms. The robbers took away jewellery, laptops and mobile phones.
The neighbours informed the police on helpline 15. Police reached the spot and surrounded the house. During the encounter, five bandits were killed while two accomplices escaped.
