PESHAWAR: Another five Afghan soldiers have been returned to Afghanistan after they had crossed over into Pakistan due to the volatile situation in their country.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the soldier were handed over to Afghan authorities after due procedure at Nawapass, Bajaur at 5:45 pm on Wednesday.
The military’s media wing said that the Afghan soldiers were given a safe passage into Pakistan by Pakistan Army at their own request in the Arundu Sector of Pak-Afghan International Border, Chitral on July 26.
The soldiers had crossed into Pakistan after necessary clearance and now the soldiers have been returned to Afghan authorities on their request.
A day earlier, forty-six Afghan soldiers including five officers had returned to Afghanistan after being allowed to refuge and safe passage in Pakistan.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army handed over 46 Afghan soldiers, including five officers to Afghan govt authorities at Nawa Pass Bajaur along the Pak-Afghan border.
These soldiers from the Afghan National Army and the Border Police were given safe passage into Pakistan, on their own request, by the Pakistan Army in Arundu Sector of Pak-Afghan border.
The ISPR said that after necessary clearance, the Afghan soldiers crossed into Pakistan with their weapons, ammunition and communication equipment. It said the soldiers have now been amicably returned to the Afghan authorities.
It had said they had sought refuge after they were unable to hold their military posts due to the evolving security situation in Afghanistan.
