KARACHI: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has suspended one of its immigration officers for allegedly harassing a young woman at the Jinnah International Airport on Tuesday.
According to sources, FIA Sindh Director Amir Farooqi took notice of the security agency’s officer allegedly harassing the young woman arriving at the Jinnah International Airport from Bahrain.
Sources said the incident of alleged harassment took place Monday when, according to the woman, the FIA officer asked for her mobile number and sweets. On this occasion, some people filmed the suspect who was unable to respond to any of the questions.
On the other hand, the accused said he had asked the woman for her number to write in the list and asked for sweet as a joke. Farooqi, the FIA’s director for Sindh, suspended the immigration officer, reported him to the zonal office, and initiated departmental action against him.
Farooqi said that a full investigation into the incident would be carried out. “If the allegations are proved to be true, departmental action will be taken against the officer,” he added.
