ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has written a letter to Interpol to extradite former prime minister Nawaz Sharif s close aide Nasir Butt from the United Kingdom.
Rawalpindi police wrote a letter to the Interior Ministry to bring Nasir Butt from London through International Police. The FIA has written a letter to Interpol to issue a red warrant for arrest and extradition of Nasir Butt.
Nasir Butt will be brought back after being declared a proclaimed offender in a murder case that has been registered against at the Sadiqabad Police Station.
Nasir Butt is considered a close aide of Nawaz Sharif and the senior vice-president of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) UK chapter. He is also the main character in the video scandal case involving Judge Arshad Malik related who claimed he had convicted former prime minister Nawaz Sharif under duress.
Last year, it was revealed that 14 cases have been registered against Nasir Butt who escaped to London. These cases were registered against him at different police stations of the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi during a period between 1982 and 1996.
