A female student from the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) was fatally shot at a private hostel in Islamabad on Sunday.
According to police reports, an unidentified individual entered the hostel premises around 12:15 p.m. and opened fire on the student in the presence of her three roommates.
The victim’s brother informed authorities that his 22-year-old sister had responded to a knock at the door, which is when the suspect forcibly entered and shot her.
Ramna Police Station has registered a case and launched a formal investigation into the incident.
In a separate but similar case reported last November, a first-year college student was allegedly shot dead by a friend in the jurisdiction of Race Course Police Station.
Qasir Mehmood, a resident of Railway Scheme 7, lodged a complaint stating that his nephew, Tayyab Faisal, was at home with family when he received a call from a friend asking him to meet in Westridge. Shortly afterward, the family was informed that Tayyab had been shot and was taken to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ).
Upon arrival at the hospital, the family was informed that Tayyab had succumbed to his injuries.
