ISLAMABAD: Former leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Faisal Vawda has resigned from his Senate seat.

It may be recalled that last month, the Supreme Court had revoked the lifetime disqualification of former PTI leader Faisal Vawda after he tendered an unconditional apology for lying about concealing his dual nationality at the time of participating in the National Assembly election on a Karachi seat during 2018 General Elections. In its verdict, the SC had declared that Vawda would be considered disqualified till the end of the incumbent parliament’s tenure. He, however, is eligible to contest the next elections in the country, read the short order.

The apex court directed the authorities concerned to forward Mr Vawda’s resignation to the Senate chairman for further process.
Taking to Twitter today, Faisal Vawda said in the light of SC orders, he had submitted his resignation to the Chairman Senate.
