A video circulating on social media from Sadiqabad has falsely claimed that dozens of children had their kidneys removed. However, investigations have revealed that this claim is entirely baseless.
On June 2, 2025, several videos went viral on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), showing multiple children lying on cots with bandages around their abdomens. Accompanying posts alleged that the children’s kidneys had been removed under the pretense of treating kidney stones.
Upon thorough examination by fact-checking teams, including reverse image searches, it was confirmed that the footage was from Tauheed Medical Complex in Sadiqabad. It was not related to kidney theft, but to a separate incident where 28 children reportedly underwent unnecessary appendectomy surgeries due to alleged misdiagnosis.
These visuals had already been aired in a news report by a private TV channel on May 31, 2025, which clarified that no evidence of organ theft was found. The incident, instead, highlighted serious medical negligence.
Following the investigation, the hospital was sealed, and the case has been handed over to the Punjab Healthcare Commission for further action.
The viral claims of kidney theft are misleading. The incident pertains to medical malpractice, not organ trafficking.
