A photo has been doing rounds on the internet, allegedly showing a bride from Lucknow wearing a “Banarasi bikini” on her wedding day. However, the image has been confirmed to be AI-generated.
The viral image depicts a woman dressed in yellow underwear, adorned with traditional jewelry and henna on her hands and feet. The accompanying caption claimed, “Lucknow bride breaks stereotype by wearing Banarasi bikini in marriage ceremony.”
Unsurprisingly, the outfit sparked backlash online, with many criticizing it as inappropriate for the occasion. One user commented, “Is it that difficult to dress according to the occasion nowadays?”
However, an investigation by News18.com revealed the truth. A reverse image search traced the photo back to a Reddit post originally shared in the DesiAdultFusion community, tagged “NSFW” (not safe for work) to indicate explicit content. The post, captioned “Marriage season,” was explicitly identified as an AI-generated image.
The Reddit user who created the image later addressed the controversy, pointing out that people had been “misusing their AI-generated images,” leading to the widespread misinformation.
