Facebook and Messenger experienced outages in Pakistan on Tuesday and Wednesday, according to numerous user reports. While Instagram and WhatsApp remain operational, some users are facing issues with loading images and videos on WhatsApp.
Many users on X noted that they were unable to access Facebook, leading to speculation about a potential government ban, similar to the situation with X.
The Pakistan-based social media monitoring platform, Down Detector, recorded a spike in complaints about Facebook accessibility starting at midnight on Monday, with another surge reported by noon on Wednesday. However, international monitoring group Netblocks did not identify any issues from Pakistan.
Netblocks did report disruptions to Facebook in Bangladesh, where protests are occurring, but did not indicate any problems in Pakistan.
